About French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization
The French Broad River MPO is a partnership between local and state government that makes decisions about transportation planning in urbanized areas and meets planning requirements established by federal authorizing legislation for transportation funding. Local governments belonging to the MPO are Buncombe, Haywood and Henderson Counties, and Asheville, Biltmore Forest, Black Mountain, Canton, Clyde, Flat Rock, Fletcher, Hendersonville, Laurel Park, Maggie Valley, Mills River, Montreat, Waynesville, Weaverville, and Woodfin. May TCC meeting will be taking place on Thursday, May 17th at 10:30 AM; May TAC meeting will take place on Thursday, May 24th, beginning at 12:30 PM at the Land of Sky offices.
FBRMPO Human Services Transportation Plan has been adopted on March 29th, 2012 by the TAC. See the final plan here.
NCDOT is working on PLAN 2040: long term policy plan out to 2040. This document will guide transportation investments until the next update. See the latest here.
Buncombe County Greenways Master Plan will be holding additional public meetings in spring 2012. See more info.
Haywood County Bike Plan was adopted by the County Commissioners on November 7, 2011. FBRMPO helped fund the study. Read more.
Top Five Bicycle and Top Five Pedestrian Projects recommended for prioritization in the SPOT process, at the Complete Streets Subcommittee Meeting on Tuesday, October 11th. TCC and TAC approved the list on October 27th.
Sidewalks within half a mile and bike facilities within three miles of transit now eligible for transit funding, see new policy here.
Sidewalks on Elk Mountain Road in Woodfin under construction, funded with NC Fit Community Grant.
